Coaches Classroom Certification
This class is open to all coaches and parents. COYBL will cover the cost for the designated coaches on each major season team. Others will be required to pay for the class through COYBL. At least one coach from each major season team must attend, and any coach considering being an allstar coach must be certified. If your major season team does not have a certified coach, your players are not allstar eligible.
Classroom Session (renew annually):
- 2/13, Mililani Ike, 2-9pm, with 1 hr dinner break, but class is being shortened down from 6 hours, preferred session for Mililani coaches
- 3/12, Waianae, daytime hours, specifics to be announced when available, last chance, if you can’t make 2/13
For the classroom sessions, COYBL needs to pay in advance, and register coaches with specific information. You can’t pay for this directly, so you must coordinate with us.
You must bring to the class a completed copy of the Volunteer Application. Part of this form is a background check, and you will need to provide your social security number. Your certification is not complete until this is done. Only 2 people at Hawaii PONY will have access to this and they will only share necessary information with the designated COYBL contact.
If you have violent crimes or crimes against children, you won’t be allowed to coach. If you have something else, like a DUI, the league will just be informed that the coach should not be permitted to drive other people’s children to games/practices. As a league, COYBL will keep any results confidential, on a “need to know” basis.
The Deadline for confirming your attendance at the 2/13 class is going to be 2/6. If you reply by then, you will have a seat at the class. If you don’t, walk-ins will be accepted ONLY if there is room and if class materials are left over.
Coaches Online Certification
If you haven’t completed the online course yet, you can still complete the online course anytime until the second class being held on 3/12. You can attend the classroom session, even if you haven’t completed the online course, but it is preferred to take the online course first.
