FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The following questions were received by our web site:
Q: I want to sign my son up for the Pinto division. What are
the game and practice schedule like?
A: Typically, there are two practice days during the week and
two games on the weekend (1 Saturday, 1 Sunday)
Q: Do I need to bring anything to the registration?
A: You are required to bring the following to registration:
- Registration form. This
form can be viewed and printed from this web site to fill
out in advance. Printed copies are also available at the
registration. View registration form
- Birth
certificate. Copy okay.
- Payment in the form of cash or check
made out to Central Oahu Youth Baseball League (or COYBL).
Q: Are we required to participate
in any fundraising?
A: COYBL holds fundraising in the Major season (Mustang, Bronco
and Pony) and Minor season (Shetland and Pinto) in the Spring
of each year. There is an option to donate a monetary amount
instead of particpating in the fundraising program.
There is no fundraising in the Summer and Fall seasons.
Q: My son played in the pinto division this spring.
We plan on signing him up for
the fall season. His b-day is Jan. 13, 1999 and
according to the age chart, he is supposed to move up to the
Mustang division. He just misses the cut-off age for the Pinto
division by 13 days.
I would really like him to play one more season in the
Pinto division. I just don't think he's quite ready
to move up in the fall to the Mustang division. I
think one more season in the Pinto division would
greatly benefit him and help him to build up his
skills so that he'll be ready to move up to the
Mustang division in the spring.
A. This is a fairly common request for all age groups. The
PONY organization is very strict about the age/division guidelines
that are set. As a PONY organization, COYBL is required to abide
by these guidelines without exception. On the flip-side, this
ruling also affects families who feel their child is ready for
the next level, but does not qualify due to age.
Q: Which areas fall under COYBL PONY district?
A: Haleiwa, Waialua, Wahiawa, Mililani, Waipio, and Waipahu
(Waipahu - pending approval).
Q:
We are in the military and will be stationed at Schofield Barracks. Please let
me know if my boys are eligible to play in your league.
A: Families residing at Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Airforce
Base also fall into the COYBL umbrella and are eligible to
play.
Q: Can my child play if we don't live in the COYBL district?
A: Yes, anyone can play, but players outside of the COYBL district
do not qualify for post season All Star play.
Q: What does my child have to bring to practice?
A: All players are required to bring the following to practice:
- baseball
glove
- baseball pants
- baseball shoes
- baseball cap
- wear a protective
cup (mandatory)
